Obama medical plan targets use for abortion clinic embryos

The April issue of Discover magazine on science, technology and the future features an interview with a brilliant physician named Robert Lanza. The article begins by stating that this pyhsician is developing tools to reverse paralysis, regenerate the heart and undo autoimmune disease. The article then asks the question "What is holding him back/"

The article goes on to say the replacement of any tissue without the fear of rejection can be done if you can create embryo stem cells to transfer to the target adult. But getting embryo stem cells produces an ethical problem.

All embryos in the uterus produce stem cells that at a proper time grow into bone, muscle, etc.. Extracting these stem cells at this early stage requires sacrificing or killing the embryo but it would produce a bountiful supply of stem cells for research. This research, in theory, could manipulate the stem cells into any kinds of cells or organs desired. But this form of extraction is not funded by the federal government for stated moral reasons.

An easy propoganda solution by Obama to some some of the stated mdical medical problems is by targeting the use of abortion clinic embryos for harvesting the stem cells.

The article ignores the progress made in extracting potential stem cells from adults in ethical proceedures already funded by the federal government. The thrust of the article seems to be to force the federal government to divert funds from adult stem cell research to funding the supposedly successful embryo harvesting researchers like Dr. Lanza. Success claims by workers with embryo tissue have been shown to be false or premature. Work with adult tissues has shown steady progress and expected success in the near future.

So why the sudden push to divert funds? Are their hidden agendas behind the science article? In an election year the claim can be made that Bush and the republicans are denying the latest medical technolgy results for our most vulnerable citizens. It is great but false propganda that might swing a sympathtic tide for federal funding, depending on who wins the election.

But there is a more insidious reason. The harvesting of embryo tissues could be done from clients of economically struggling abortion clinics. The federal government with the funding diversion would now become a partner with the clinics. The government with huge funding would aid in sustaining and spreading abortion clinics for the harvesting of embryo tissue. This would be a dream come true for the most extreme pro-choice advocates.

All taxpayers would now be required to contribute through their taxes to this embryo killing and tissue harvesting. Those who think life begins in the first hours of conception would be confronted with some horrible moral questions. The paying of taxes would now becomes more than a political question. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS GOING TO INVOLVE MORE THAN FOREIGN POLICY AND ECONOMIC QUESTIONS.
